A Sneak Peak of New Jewelry by NYLA STAR
Let it be known that I love surprises...but I'd say I love sneak peaks even more. I'm one of those people who just can't resist. When I found out I could get a sneak peak at some of the new pieces still unreleased by NYLA STAR I was thrilled check them out. Its really never any fun to keep surprises to yourself, however. One of the reasons I created Jewelry Dose Daily was to share new releases with you (you'll get to check them out by the end of our post - I'm going to be a hypocrite and say no peeking!)
The NYLA STAR line was created by New York based designer Leslie Kumar. Not only is Leslie fashion savvy designer, but one hard working woman as well. If you're located in and around New York, The Hamptons, or Connecticut, you can catch Leslie meeting up with fans and customers at one of her many trunk show events.
I find that the NYLA STAR collection offers versatility. One of the most interesting things about the NYLA STAR collection is its very deliberate ability to transition from day to evening. Several collections claim to be able to do so, but few do it as seemlessly as the NYLA STAR pieces. Furthermore (and I get very few opportunities to use that sentence starter), NYLA STAR has developed a fan base for its ability to easily be worn as resort wear for women who want to gleam during their special time away without bringing their heavier diamond pieces with them on vacation. NYLA STAR is created using 14K gold over sterling silver and includes reasonably priced cubic zirconia. Fashionoplois NY recently named NYLA STAR a travel obsession by fashion writer Nina Myers. These are good go-to simple b ut elegant pieces anyone can throw on without worrying about if their jewelry is "right."
the Lalla Salma earrings (my pick for design)
The Wave hoop earrings (my pick for value - a lot of wear for the money)
Trifecta (my pick for best gift)
and Yasmin (my pick for day to evening).
You can check out all NYLA STAR pieces on http://www.nylastar.com/.
....oh, and without further ado, here is a sneak peak of Leslie's up and coming line!

What jewelry is in now?
Jewelry in general is on a popularity upswing. In the last two years we've seen many women who weren't previously jewelry wearers start integrating jewelry into their regular wardrobe. Accessories are an easy and relatively inexpensive way to get the most out of limited outfits and still look great in a challenging economy. The rise of the statement necklace made bold jewels common and acceptable to the everyday working women. Five years ago you couldn't turn on the news and see the latest in jewelry around the anchor woman's neck. Now you certainly can do that daily. This season bangles and bracelets are making a comeback in various materials, stacked in clusters or worn alone. Whether costume, silver, real gold, or genuine gemstone, earrings are a best seller. Statement, right hand, and cocktail rings are very popular as well. This season's trends include red and purple accessories. Think bold coral and ruby tones, amethyst, purple cz, and other colored jewels. Animal jewelry is big this season as well.

Designer Stephanie Wells Launches The Earring Style Book in NYC
Sought after jewelry designer and author Stephanie Wells held an unforgettable launch party for her celebrated new book The Earring Style Book
last Monday...and the contributors to jewelry dose daily were honored to attend. This exclusive event which was co-hosted by Alisa Rottenberg, Sam Jones, and Caitlin Burke, fashion editor of Harper's Bazaar (international) was held at NYC's ultra-chic Norwood Club.
Stephanie Wells and Alisa Rottenberg of Double Happiness Jewelry have designed jewelry for celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Eva Longoria and have been featured in several fashion magazines including Cosmopolitan and Bazaar. The Earring Style Book
by Stephanie Wells has been a tremendous labor of love; one which will make her original, sexy, and successful jewelry designs attainable by women everywhere.
The Norwood Club's upstairs loft would, however, reveal the treats that really stole the show. There we were able to sample the out-of-this-world styles featured in the The Earring Style Book
first hand as well as surprise pieces from Stephanie's up and coming company Elli!
| Alisa Rottenberg (second from left) This co-owner of Double Happiness ensured that our eveing was freakin' fantabulous! |
Familiar faces at the event included Ralph Lauren's Chris Collins, Derek Reed, Emmy winner Wendy Benbrook, and Daniella Kallmeyer, designer's choice award winner from Bravo's The Fashion Show with Izaac Mizrahi among several others. Several guests were wearing styles from Double Happiness and The Earring Style Book., and I'm not kidding when I say they are STUNNING. Whether you create or purchase these pieces, you are truly recreating Hollywood style.
One of the best parts of the event was getting an inside tip from Stephanie herself who informed me that The Earring Style Book will be available for a fabulous price at Amazon
. No matter where you buy this book, you aren't going to be able to stop staring at it. The book is conveniently divided up into sections to help you match your style, but I love them all. Hopefully you'll be able to stop staring long enough to create one of the little beauties from its pages yourself.
To see the book for yourself which will be available on August 17th, you can order through Amazon.
To learn more about Stephanie A. Wells and the Double Happiness Jewelry team you can visit the Double Happiness Jewelry website..
...oh and don't forget about Stephanie's up and coming Elli (you heard it here first)! To get involved in the up and coming company, visit The Elli Company page. I'll be sharing more about Elli with you in future posts! This is the kind of thing you don't want to miss. <3

Snake Jewelry - A trend looming in the grasses!
Last weekend's post about the jewelry of Spartacus Blood and Sand started me thinking about snake jewelry Check out Lucretia's (Lucy Lawless's) snake bangle from the post here. This trend has really been "looming" (you guys know I can't resist the puns - sorry!) for the past few years, most commonly seen in bangles, rings, and as a pendant. The little guy (left) is a take on snake jewelry I've never seen before. It combines last fall's popular bendable necklaces with head and tail of a snake...seems pretty logical...but is it too costume? I personally think its pretty fun, and although it isn't for the faint of heart, I have reason to believe its about to really "blow up" as a trend. I have a limited quantity of these little guys available through jewelrydosedaily.com and if you'd like one please email jewelrygirl3559@hotmail.com for details. In the mean time, let me know if you'd like to see on of these little guys in a jewelry dose daily giveaway (although I'd really have to make you earn him! : ) <3 Melissa

Love of the Day - Kendra Scott Small Feather Earrings
Oh my...love of the day, what better way to start the morning than waking up to you? The other day a recently married wonderful friend of mine posted something like "Being married requires falling in love over and over again, just always with the same person" on her facebook page. Yes, I would say it was a fabulous choice in quote that certainly captures the beauty and legacy of marriage...but here is some consolation to the commitment phobic. Well my fickle friends, I'm about to tell you how jewelry is different than marriage...but first, have a sip of coffee (afterall it is only 9am), its about to get "heavy" in here Sex and the City style. Put plain and simply (the way I like to do) The difference between marriage and jewelry is that, well, a marriage to jewelry commonly allows for polyamorous behavior...where nobody gets hurt (aside the usual pinch, prick, or hair entanglement). That being said, here i'll proudly display for you my lustful early morning affair. First name Kenda Scott, Last name Small Feather Earrings (You know its special when you know the last name!)...and for those of you who are sick of me drawing far far stretched dramatic comparisons - Without further ado, here is where you can posess these little beauties: http://www.gilt.com/s/kendra-scott-jewe/product/34478905 or since they are wait listed there (they're quite the hot floozy of a commodity), try http://www.kendrascott.com/! In a follow up post, I'll explain to you what I'd wear for them, I mean with them! <3

A Mellow Day, an Exciting Find: beautiful artisan jewelry, just lovely plain and simply. I'm rating it one of the best gift giving sites on the web.
The other day in my internet travels, I came across something I have surprisingly never seen before (that is hard to come by these days). I was introduced to http://www.modernartisans.com/. I definitely have a lot of love for this relatively little known website! If you love to support American artisans (and I believe in supporting all artisans near and far), this is the website for you! It is a little different than the wonderful Novica (more on that later), in that most of the pieces are made in the United States. This site is probably one of the best things to happen since raisin bread, and with the Zephyr gallery downsizing, we needed this! I fell in love with some of the pieces instantly. Here are my some of my favorites (wow, I could really list just about all the jewelry on the site - but here are my really really favorites):
I want to pick up the Fearless Soul Cuff and the Travel my Path cuff right away! To see any of these pieces, go to http://www.modernartisans.com/ and click on jewelry. There other other great house decor pieces etc. to see as well. The prices on this site are also amazing, for handmade sterling you can't beat it. I rate this one of the best gift giving sites on the web. What do you think? Please let me know if you have a favorite or if you plan to pick something up from the site...so I can be jealous!
