Oh No She Didn't...Snooki Launches Pendant Design

Oh Yes.  She did.  Jersey Shore cast member Nicole Polizzi, much better known as Snooki, is now offering a bejeweled pendant for sale.  We know many of our readers are going to find this one hard to digest, so we're just going to give it to you straight.  The pendant has been created to look like the 2011 party ball.  Snooki rode down a giant ball in Seaside Heights, NJ on New Years Eve and this pendant is a sort of commemoration.  The pendant features pink sapphire encrusting and according to reports, Snooki is "very pleased with the necklace."  There is a promotional video for the item out there somewhere and you'd better believe we're going to try to find it for you, but in case you happen to be sold sold sold without it, you can run over to http://www.diamondshark.com/ right now and pick it up.  It sells for $49.  Diamond Shark's website describes the pendant as "an eye-catching accessory that no fist-pumping guido can resist, especially if your fashionable 'poof' hairdo keeps your neckline clearly visable."  It comes with a certificate of...authenticity.

Cue God Save the Queen - this is an official matter.  The necklace designed by Kate Middleton, finance of Prince William is being produced once again.  Didn't know Kate Middleton considered herself a jewelry designer?  Neither did we. 

We now know that Kate Middleton worked as a buyer for British retailer Jigsaw back in 2007, so that is likely how she got her start in the fashion design industry.  At the time Ms. Middleton came in contact with designer Claudia Brady who asked her if she'd like to collaborate on designing a piece.  The necklace consists of 3 charms on a sterling silver chain - one of pink pearl, one of rose quartz, and one sterling silver kidney bean charm.  The piece has recently been commissioned again and is available for sale at http://www.claudiabradby.com/ and goes for about $70 USD. 

Angelina Jolie Designing Charity Jewelry Line

It was only a matter of time.  Angelia Jolie is is re-entering the jewelry design world.  This will be the first full blown line since Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie collaborated on designing a few serpent inspired pieces back in 2009.

The actress and mother of [oh we lost count - but we support adoption!] will be teaming up with former Asprey designer Robert Procop to create a line of high end jewelry with "statement stones" according to report by Women's Wear Daily.

We aren't talking "high end costume-y line here."  The collection is rumored to be include pricy pieces like 12 carat emeralds, large diamonds, and other dramatic gems.  All the proceeds from the collection will go to Angelina's personal charity "The Education Partnership for Children of Conflict."

According to recent reports, this line will not be coming to stores and you might even have a hard time trying to catch of glimpse of it at all.  Plans suggest Jolie's designs will only be offered to her personal network of high end and VIP clients.  Still dying to get a look?  Jolie wore one of the first pieces she collaborated with Procop on to the Berlin premiere of her film "Salt" in summer of 2010 - It was a black spinel becklace bezel set in rose gold.   Take a peek above.  The up and coming pieces are expected to be similar. 

Interestingly bucking the trend of well...ultra trendy trend lines, Jolie's designs are rumored to be "very classic" much like the pieces she wears herself.  Without any website or store presence, talk about the appeal of the forbidden.  You know you want some...or at least to see some photos of the pieces!

Pauly D and Ronnie of Jersey Shore go on a Gleeful Diamond Shopping Spree - Boy's Day Out?

Alright everyone, I'm just going to put it out there.  I'm from Jersey. Does that make me a terrible person?  I swear the studs I wear are only 1/3 carat, my wedding bands are seriously understated by today's standards...and sure I'd rock an obnoxiously huge chain necklace... but only in a vintage Chanel type way I swear!  Me aside, however, the evidence keeps piling in that Jersey may be oversized diamond and jewel obsessed...check out this most recent obsession...for men...well by men...or boys - okay, boys from Jersey...'ayyyy!" (ugh.)

In a recent report, TMZ writes:

MTV might as well be paying Pauly D and Ronnie in diamonds -- because the "Jersey Shore" twosome recently bought a ridiculous amount of the shiny little rocks ... 121 carats worth ... TMZ has learned.

Sources tell TMZ Pauly D stopped by Manhattan Jewelery Co. (which is actually in Boston) earlier this month and bought a Breitling Super Avenger watch complete with 34 carats in diamonds ... and that's just the tip of the ice-berg.

We're told Pauly has since been back to MJ's multiple times ... pocketing a 65-carat diamond necklace, a white gold Rolex, and a custom G-Shock watch covered in 10 carats of diamonds.

Ronnie was tad bit more modest -- only walking home with a 12-carat, white gold rosary and a Breitling Super Avenger watch with 12 carats of diamonds.

Sources close to Pauly tell TMZ, "Pauly has always worn the finer things in life, never the costume jewelry because that would be a situation."

CNN Reports that Diamonds are Making a Huge Comeback

In a report by Katherine Dorsett, CNN has just reported that diamonds are making a huge comeback on holiday shopping lists this year. According to a survey by the National Retail Federation, the number of people asking for jewelry for Christmas is up 13 percent from a year ago, now at a total of 23 percent. It seems that practical gifts such as cookware seemed to be in big demand last year, while "bling" is the thing a'coveted this 2010 holiday season.

Some experts are speculating that the increased demand for jewelry is actually a good signal that the economy may be recovering. Whatever the case may be, it seems that the public just can't wait any longer to be like their favorite celebrities, who are indeed wearing diamonds. From Taylor Swift to Prince William's fiance Kate Middleton diamonds are all over the media.

Last week Oprah upped the ante for the diamond trend when she gave her guests "a little bling" by Dana Rebecca Designs. Each guests received the "Jessica Leigh" diamond earrings that include 1.17 carats of diamonds. Fashion critic Pinny Gniwish told CNN "People want gifts that will last...[they] want to feel like they are not only giving a gift but investing in forever." Read the full story here.

Hey Everyone! Remember Misha Barton? The English American actress is best known for her role as Marissa on the 2003 Fox series "The OC." It may seem like yesterday but the series has come and gone and although, like all teens, Misha may have hit some speed bumps along the way, she's moved on to bigger and better things including two new movies set to be released later on this year... oh and jewelry shopping.   Taking a stroll down a certain relatively quiet street in NYC, you're unlikely to suspect what vibrant merrymaking is abuzz just a few feet away from you behind closed doors.  Enter the studio of designer Marie-Lise Lachapelle and you'll see why we say, much like B.O.B. and Rivers Cuomo, she's got the magic.

Objects of beauty, when touched by Ms. Marie-Lise do literally turn into gold, but our love for the creations of Marie- Lise Lachapplle exist for reasons above and beyond the literal.  This Montreal native has that certain something that design savvy jewelry enthusiasts look for in their adornments - true originality and masterful composition.

Lachappelle officially began her career in jewelry design in 2003 while working as a fashion stylist.  She is a hands on designer who creates each original piece in her NYC studio.  The designer is known for her signature leaf and lacquered flower collections which combine "the most exquisite resources" such as natural gemstones, sterling silver, gold, and vermeil with beautiful leaves and flowers - and well, we were impressed.  Each piece can be customized.
